The original fabric was separating from the headliner board because the foam backing had deteriorated. Singapore heat and humidity accelerate this ageing process. Once the foam has failed, spraying adhesive onto the loose fabric is not a reliable long-term solution because the unstable foam remains trapped between the fabric and the board.
Complete Headliner Refurbishment Process
The necessary interior trim and headliner board were carefully removed. The old fabric and deteriorated foam were stripped from the board, and the surface was cleaned and prepared to provide a stable base. New black roof lining fabric was then fitted, shaped and finished around the openings before the board and interior components were reinstalled.
The removed-board before-and-after photographs show the repair clearly. Before refurbishment, the fabric was loose and folded away from the board.
